I couldn't make up my mind whether to title this "Sha doo bee, SHATTERED" or "I (don't) love the sound of breaking glass".
When I got back to my commuter car at the end of the work day, I found that the rear glass had cracked. I didn't have anything to tape it so it wouldn't go everywhere, so I went to drive home. It was still in one piece, but as soon as I got on the road, it started breaking apart..
Whatever the case, I pulled over quickly and cleaned up as much of the glass as I could, and broke the rest of the window apart so it wouldn't fly off later in traffic.
We're due for some snow tonight, so I taped up some plastic over the hole, and I'll be searching for a glass installer locally. I've already asked on the local CCA chapter message board for recommendations. A lot of places will drive out to where your car is and do it on the spot.
I have no idea why it happened. Maybe the temperature difference between the inside and outside caused it to shatter, but I dunno.
