I have a '00 Z3 2.8 with automatic transmission. I have been having this problem for a few months now - my automatic transmission warning light comes on. In the service book's instructions it indicates that
I should immidiately turn the car off, sit a minute, then attempt to restart. I do this and it usually takes 2-3 restarts to go away.
I have taken my car in to the dealer, but they were unable to find any error codes, etc... stored in the car's computer. Since this problem occurs randomly, and of course since it was the day that I took it to
the dealer, the problem could not be recreated.
As of now, the dealer has indicated that when the problem occurs again, to please call them and we'll see about my driving the car in to hook it up to the diagnostics machine while the light is still on.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, do you know what the root cause of the problem is, and how it was fixed?
Thanks, Beth
